ISO/IEC 42001 AI Management System

Govern artificial intelligence with the same discipline as information security. ISO/IEC 42001 gives you a certifiable AI management system, and we help you build it around the AI you actually use and develop.

What ISO/IEC 42001 Is

ISO/IEC 42001, published in 2023, is the international standard for an artificial intelligence management system (AIMS). It sets requirements for organizations that develop, provide or use AI systems: policy and objectives, roles, AI risk and impact assessment, data and lifecycle controls, and continual improvement.

It follows the same management system structure as ISO/IEC 27001, so organizations can integrate the two. In the Kingdom it pairs naturally with the NCA AI Cybersecurity Guidelines and with the Personal Data Protection Law for AI that processes personal data.

Who Needs This

  • Organizations building AI products, chatbots or agents.
  • Companies whose customers ask how their AI is governed.
  • Entities adopting AI widely and wanting clear accountability.
  • ISO/IEC 27001 certified organizations adding AI governance.

Our Methodology

Every engagement follows the Cyber Shields rhythm: Assess, Protect, Monitor. For this engagement, that translates into the following steps.

  1. Gap assessment. Under a signed Non-Disclosure Agreement, we measure your current practices against ISO/IEC 42001 and agree the scope.
  2. Design and documentation. We design the processes, policies and records the standard expects, sized to your organization.
  3. Implementation support. We help you run AI risk and impact assessments, set lifecycle controls from data to deployment, and define human oversight.
  4. Internal audit. An independent internal audit checks readiness and evidence before any external assessment.
  5. Management review and readiness. We prepare leadership for the management review and your team for the external audit.

What You Receive

Engagement & Investment

Every engagement is scoped individually. Pricing depends on the size and complexity of your environment, the systems or controls in scope, and the timeline you need to work to. Rather than publish figures that rarely fit a specific situation, we prepare a written proposal with a clear fee and schedule once your scope is understood.

Tell us about your organization and the deadline you are working toward, and we will return a tailored proposal within five business days, following a signed Non-Disclosure Agreement.
