Systems & Network Security

Hardening, segmentation, secure baselines, and architecture review for production environments. We bring systems and networks to a defensible state through secure configuration measured against the CIS Benchmarks.

What Systems & Network Security Covers

Most environments accumulate risk quietly. Default configurations, flat networks, and inconsistent baselines leave attack surface that no single tool will surface for you. Systems and network security is the discipline of closing that gap: hardening operating systems and devices, segmenting the network into defensible zones, and establishing repeatable secure baselines that hold over time.

Our approach starts with how the environment is actually built. We review the architecture, measure each system against a recognized secure baseline, examine how traffic flows between zones, and produce a hardening plan that reduces attack surface without breaking the workloads your business depends on.

Who Needs This

  • Organizations hardening infrastructure to a consistent, defensible standard.
  • Teams preparing for a regulatory or certification audit that expects secure configuration evidence.
  • Security and IT leaders looking to reduce attack surface across servers, endpoints, and network devices.
  • Entities carrying out post-assessment remediation after a vulnerability assessment or penetration test.
  • Businesses moving workloads to the cloud, or running hybrid estates, that need baselines applied consistently across both.

Our Methodology

Every engagement follows the Cyber Shields rhythm: Assess, Protect, Monitor. For systems and network security, that translates into the following steps.

  1. Scope, architecture review, and NDA. We agree the systems and networks in scope in writing, under a signed Non-Disclosure Agreement, then review the architecture and how the environment is constructed before any change is proposed.
  2. Baseline assessment against CIS. Each in-scope system is measured against the relevant CIS Benchmark, so the gap between current configuration and a recognized secure baseline is explicit and evidence-backed.
  3. Segmentation and zero-trust review. We examine how the network is divided into zones, how traffic flows between them, and where trust is assumed rather than verified, then identify where segmentation and least-privilege access should be tightened.
  4. Hardening plan. A prioritized, risk-rated plan for systems and network configuration, sequenced so the highest-impact changes come first and operational risk is managed.
  5. Implementation support. We advise your team, validate the changes they make, or apply the hardening directly, working within your change-management process to avoid disruption.
  6. Validation. Once changes are in place, we re-measure against the baseline and confirm that hardened systems and segmentation are genuinely in the intended state.

What You Receive

  • Architecture review documenting the current environment and its security-relevant design.
  • Hardening baselines aligned to the relevant CIS Benchmarks for the systems in scope.
  • Segmentation plan describing target network zones, trust boundaries, and traffic policy.
  • Configuration standards your team can reuse to keep new systems consistent over time.
  • Validation report confirming the achieved state against the baseline after hardening.
  • Readout session with your team, in Arabic and English.

Engagement & Investment

Every engagement is scoped individually. Pricing depends on the size and complexity of your environment, the systems or controls in scope, and the timeline you need to work to. Rather than publish figures that rarely fit a specific situation, we prepare a written proposal with a clear fee and schedule once your scope is understood.

Tell us about your organization and the deadline you are working toward, and we will return a tailored proposal within five business days, following a signed Non-Disclosure Agreement.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a secure baseline?

A secure baseline is a defined, documented configuration that a system should meet to be considered hardened: which services run, how access is controlled, how logging is set, and which insecure defaults are removed. We measure your systems against a recognized baseline such as the relevant CIS Benchmark, so secure configuration becomes a repeatable standard rather than a one-time effort.

Do you implement the changes or only advise?

Either, depending on what suits your team. We can advise and hand over a hardening plan for your engineers to execute, validate the work they carry out, or apply the hardening directly. In every case we work within your change-management process to manage operational risk.

What are the CIS Benchmarks?

The CIS Benchmarks are consensus-developed secure configuration guides published by the Center for Internet Security, covering operating systems, network devices, cloud platforms, and common applications. They are a widely recognized reference for measuring whether a system is hardened, and they map cleanly to broader frameworks such as NCA ECC and ISO/IEC 27001.

Do you cover both cloud and on-premises environments?

Yes. We harden on-premises servers and network devices, cloud workloads, and hybrid estates, applying the relevant baselines consistently across each. The segmentation and architecture review accounts for how on-premises and cloud zones connect so trust boundaries are addressed end to end.

Will the deliverables be available in Arabic?

Yes. The architecture review, hardening baselines, configuration standards, validation report, and readout session are available in both Arabic and English at no additional cost.
